RSU 26, in the university town of Orono, is seeking a full-time principal for Orono High School – a school that serves approximately 350 students with 70 staff members – to begin on August 1, 2025, or as soon as available. The success of Orono schools is due in large part to the work of our exceptional faculty and the wide support consistently offered by our community. The next principal of Orono High School will have the opportunity to build upon the school’s successes by working collaboratively with a cohesive leadership team across the district.
The successful candidate will demonstrate deep knowledge and expertise in leading and supporting teachers and understand how to design programming & operate a school to meet the needs of today’s high school students. The successful candidate must:

Effectively communicate;

Possess strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with all stakeholders;

Develop ties with the community, the university, and other stakeholders;

Promote the school with prospective students and families;

Work to support & implement the district’s strategic plan and goals in OHS and RSU 26;

Develop and oversee budgets;
-
Manage supervision and evaluation systems.
Maine School Building Administrator certification (040) and CHRC required.
