Multi-Language Learner (MLL) Teacher

Orono High School–a 370-student school in the university town of Orono, Maine–is seeking a dynamic and student-centered educator to join our learning community at the start of the 2024-25 school year. The ideal candidate has a passion for mathematics as an avenue for empoweringing students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to thrive in an increasingly complex and dynamic world where adaptability, critical thinking, and quantitative literacy are essential for success. This is a full-time position that includes teaching one section of AP Statistics; other course assignments will depend on department needs and candidate strengths. Training in AP Statistics will be provided for the right candidate. Maine educator certification in Mathematics (300) is preferred, but other certified/certifiable candidates with aptitude for subject matter and willingness to pursue mathematics certification will also be considered. RSU 26 will support certification for the right candidate.

High School Teacher of Mathematics

RSU 26  in Orono is looking for an organized and self-motivated District Data Analyst to work with the superintendent, administrators, teachers and instructional coaches to analyze district data to help better understand and improve educational outcomes. Data include standardized tests, demographic and enrollment data, behavioral databases, responses to surveys and other data as it becomes available.

 

Candidates must have the ability to work with databases in multiple formats (e.g. CSV, Excel, SQL),  merge data from multiple sources, perform quality control checks and crosstab (i.e. pivot table) analyses, and plot graphs from data that communicate patterns and trends to non-technical audiences.

 

This is an independent, contracted service for approximately 125 hours per semester. 

Pay range is  $25 - $40 per hour depending on experience.

Ed Tech II- PreK Classroom

Asa Adams Elementary School in Orono is looking for a full time ed-tech II to join our learning community in Pre-K for the remainder of the 23-24 school year and beyond. The suitable candidate should be organized, self-motivated and enjoy working with our youngest learners! This position would involve assisting with the implementation of educational activities, helping children with their personal hygiene needs, assisting with the maintenance of a safe and healthy learning environment, and helping the  teacher with record keeping and other administrative tasks.

A registered Maine Guide does not need the WFA or ETL certifications.
 
Time commitment:  15 weeks starting in March.   10-12 hrs per week

Food Services

RSU 26 is looking for a responsible and motivated individual to help plan, prepare, and serve students nutritious meals in a clean, efficient, and friendly atmosphere. 

This individual should be comfortable leading and instructing other food service staff.  The position requires long periods of time standing and the capacity to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted. Good communication, math, and computer skills are a must. Experience with Excel, Word, and the Google platform is preferred. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills are essential.  

Food safety and cooking skills are required, and knowledge of school nutrition is preferred.  A Serve Safe Manager certificate is highly recommended.  A criminal history records check (CHRC) from the state of Maine is required for employment.  This is a full-time (25 -30hr) position Monday to Friday with benefits included.  Pay dependent upon experience.

RSU 26 is currently seeking qualified applicants for full-time, year-round custodial positions.   Positions are available for evening and day shifts.   

 The selected candidate must meet the following qualifications

  • High School Diploma/ Equivalent

  • Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) clearance is required to begin work

  • Ability to work effectively, flexibly, and harmoniously with others including students, staff, and administrators

  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, ability to climb to the height of the school roof/ceiling

  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment normally associated with high-traffic facilities

  • Ability to meet/complete responsibilities as listed in the job description.

The successful candidate will have to pass a pre-employment physical.  Positions are full-time (40 hr), Monday to Friday with a generous benefits package included.  Pay dependent upon experience.
